Based on the data from the Border Guard Headquarters, the daily reported that while in April fewer than 34,000 Ukrainians came to Poland, in May the number almost tripled to 94,000. Employment agencies are also reporting a growing influx of economic immigrants from Ukraine.
‘In logistics and the agri-food industry, the demand for foreign workers is over 20 percent higher than a year ago’, claims Andrzej Korkus, CEO of EWL. He adds that, in turn, the demand in the restaurant and hotel industry has shrunk to a minimum during the pandemic; it also decreased in many sectors of the industry.
