We are pleased to announce the official launch of the ‘Migrant Station’ project, which will be inaugurated on May 11th by opening an information point for foreigners in Warsaw. With the growing scale of employment of foreigners in Poland, the need to know the rights and obligations on the labour market among migrants is now greater than ever before. However, simplified legalization procedures and the growing willingness of Polish employers to employ foreigners do not always translate into safety of work.

The organizers of the ‘Migrant Station’ project draw attention to the scale of potential abuse, which is associated with a large increase in labour migration. Foreigners coming to Poland often fall prey to dishonest intermediaries and do not have enough knowledge to effectively search for work in Poland or apply for legalization documents necessary for further stay and work. ‘From May, foreigners visiting the Warszawa Zachodnia railway station will be able to enrich their knowledge about working and staying in Poland in the newly opened information point for foreigners, which we are preparing in cooperation with the station administrator, PKS Polonus S.A’, says Monika Ołów, project coordinator at the Foundation for Support of Migrants on the Labour Market “EWL”.

The information point, open on workdays in the main hall of the station, is not the only element of the programme which starts in May. The Foundation’s representatives will provide career guidance for foreigners, which will also include specialized counselling for people of Polish descent, including repatriates and people with the Pole’s Card. The point will also host regular information meetings. These monthly meetings will be attended by representatives of other non-governmental organizations and labour market institutions.
