Poland’s seasonal labour market is currently facing significant challenges. In an interview with Business Insider Poland, Alex Kartsel – Vice President of EWL Group – shared his perspective on the necessary changes ahead.
The expert outlined potential directions for reform that could effectively support legal labour migration and improve access to workforce during key periods of the year. Demographic shifts, rising expectations from workers, and the evolving needs of employers are exposing the limitations of the current legal framework.
According to Alex Kartsel, it is worth considering an expanded definition of seasonal work. A new approach could include, for example:
- the intense pre-holiday period in logistics and retail,
- seasonal surges in manufacturing,
- temporary staffing needs during large-scale events.
Such solutions would better reflect the realities of today’s labour market and enable more effective responses to short-term business demands.
We would like to thank the editorial team at Business Insider Poland for the opportunity to contribute to this important discussion and share EWL Group’s expert perspective.
