How to convince employees from Ukraine to stay in Poland? The government has to help!

Andrzej Korkus, CEO of the EWL employment agency, which now has more than 5,000 workers from Ukraine in Poland, points out that most of the approximately 1.2 million economic migrants from Ukraine are here short-term. After a few months, when their residence permits and documents allowing for legal employment expire, Ukrainian workers leave the country and new ones come in their place. Only now, with the borders closed, there is no one to replace them.

In response to appeals from employers, the anti-crisis package includes automatic extension of visas and work permits for workers from Ukraine.

Representatives of employment agencies and employers’ organizations also call for the possibility to submit applications for legalization of stay and work for foreigners via the Internet – without the need to provide paper versions until the state of state of epidemic emergency is lifted.
