The report of EWL and the Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw shows that on average an employee from abroad earns in Poland 3.5 times more than in Ukraine.
Every third employee from Ukraine would like to move to Poland permanently, according to the report ‘Ukrainians on the Polish labour market: experiences, challenges and perspectives’. The study was presented during one of the debates at the 13th Europe-Ukraine Forum, in Jasionka near Rzeszów. According to study, on average an employee from Ukraine will earn in Poland about 3.5 times more than in his home country. ‘The German market may be the competition for our country, but for the time being we have more friendly procedures for legalization of work undertaken by people from outside the EU’, believes Mariya Kuzenko, Head of Legalization in the EWL Group. Andrzej Korkus, CEO of EWL S.A., says that according to the survey, in 2016 Poland received more labour migrants than the United States. ‘We have created a system that is able to meet the migration challenges and the vast majority of workers from outside Poland work legally on the basis of visas and permits. Migrants are a huge added value for the economy, they are primarily responsible for GDP growth’, Andrzej Korkus. He adds that migration is indicated as one of the main engines of economic growth in Poland. ‘The influx of workers from Ukraine taught us, in a sense, tolerance towards diversity – for our administration and society it was an important lesson in awareness of this diversity. Employees from Ukraine have been very beneficial to both our economy and our society’, Andrzej Korkus.
