‘We are glad that we were not alone on Easter’, said the migrants from\nthe East who work in Poland,\nbut for various reasons spent the Resurrection Day far from their relatives.\nMore than 100 people from several countries met at the Easter table [w tek\u015bcie oryginalnym mowa o\nstole wigilijnym] in the Polish capital on April 8th. On the day of\nEaster, according to the Julian calendar, two solemn Easter breakfasts for\nforeigners took place in Warsaw,\nco-organized by the Foundation for Support of Migrants on the Labour Market\n“EWL”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the annual increase in migration from Eastern European countries to Poland, there is a problem of separation of the migrants with their families and loved ones, which is most painful during the family holiday celebrations. Praying together and sharing a meal during Easter breakfast was to lessen the feeling of loneliness and distance from loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first of\nthe Easter Breakfast meetings took place after the night liturgy at the\nMetropolitan Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene in Warsaw’s Praga district. It was attended by\nnearly 70 guests from several countries, including Ukraine,\nBelarus, Georgia and Ethiopia. The main organizers of\nthe event were the Orthodox Parish of St. Mary Magdalene in Warsaw\nand the St. Cyril and Methodius Centre for\nOrthodox Culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next\nEaster breakfast took place after the solemn liturgy at the Dormition of the\nBlessed Virgin Mary Greek Catholic Parish in Warsaw in Miodowa street. There\nwere nearly 50 foreigners, mainly from Ukraine at the Easter table. The main\norganizer was the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Catholic Parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘On behalf of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Andriy Raincy, I wish you peace on the occasion of the greatest holiday of all Christians – the Resurrection of the Lord.’, said the counsellor of the Ukrainian Embassy Mykola Yarmoluk .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Nobody should\nbe left alone on Easter’, says Andrzej Korkus, CEO of the EWL Group. ‘We take\ncare of the migrants from the East not only by providing them with decent conditions\nfor work and residence in Poland, but we also understand their needs and try to\ndo everything we can to make them feel at home, especially during seasonal\nholidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘We are glad that such events are organized for us, we are glad that we are not left alone on Easter’, said Alla from Lutsk, who works in Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘It is very\ncosy and good here. We were very warmly welcomed’, added Vladimir from Belarus,\nwho works in Poland as a mechanic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘A wonderful\nevent. I’ve been working in Poland for several years, but it’s my first time at\nsuch breakfast. I think it is a very good idea and I would like to have as many\nsimilar meetings as possible.’, said Mykola from Odessa.\n\nThe ‘Easter Breakfast’ event was co-organized by the\nFoundation for Support of Migrants on the Labour Market “EWL” and\nco-funded by the EWL Group. The company, which is the leader in the recruitment\nindustry, has been acting as the co-organizer of Christmas Eve dinners for\nforeigners during Christmas for two years.
