‘Last year a significant number of Polish employees were benefiting from extended carer’s allowance in September, resulting in their shortage on the labour market. Moreover, at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn 2020 production increased, i.a. in the automotive industry, which translated into staffing needs and increased recruitment’, said Rafa\u0142 Mr\u00f3z<\/strong>, Operational Director at the EWL Group, about the year 2020 on the Polish labour market in an interview with wiadomoscihandlowe.pl <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has the pandemic affected the labour market? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As pointed out by the expert from the EWL team, the situation of the employment market in 2020 in Poland could be divided into three stages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first one, which started right after the introduction of the restrictions and sanitary regime, was that of uncertainty on the labour market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘During this first period employees from the East often changed jobs due to downsizing in their original companies. Our research shows that almost 40% of employees had to change their place of work and often also their place of residence’, <\/p> explains Rafa\u0142 Mr\u00f3z.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Around the turn of August and September 2020 the labour market started to get back on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Many companies began to return to pre-pandemic production levels, the logistics industry constantly recorded increases in demand and there was still a shortage of employees on the local market’, <\/p> adds the Operational Director at EWL employment agency. <\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

We are now in the third stage, which is a period of stabilisation. The demand for employees at the beginning of the year is usually lower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘It is worth adding that regulations extending legal residence and work in Poland to foreign employees in the period of the pandemic are still in force. This affects the reduced pace of fluctuation of personnel from the East’,<\/p> adds the expert. <\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
